SeekOut vs hireEZ: An Independent Comparison for 2026
Both search a claimed billion-plus profiles. Both sit on top of your existing ATS rather than replacing it. Both rebuilt their positioning around AI agents in 2025–2026. If you are choosing between them expecting one to have a fundamentally larger database or a fundamentally better search, that is not where the difference lies.
The difference is in four places. SeekOut publishes far more about how its AI is governed and about diversity and compliance tooling. hireEZ reaches candidates on more channels — email, text messaging and InMail, where SeekOut documents only email. hireEZ has independent third-party validation of its GDPR practices and documents a specific mechanism for EU and UK candidate data; SeekOut states its data centres are in the United States. And SeekOut has been through significant turbulence — two rounds of layoffs and a CEO handover in 2026 — while hireEZ has just completed a full replatform.
This page is written by a company that builds a competing tool. We mention ourselves once, at the end. Everything below is sourced and dated so you can check it.
What they have in common
This section exists because most comparison pages skip it, and skipping it makes the rest untrustworthy.
Both claim a database of over a billion profiles: SeekOut's site leads with “1B+ profiles”, and hireEZ states “1B+ candidate profiles across 45+ channels” on its pricing page and “more than 1 billion professional profiles, aggregated across tens of data sources, plus a company's own ATS” in its August 2026 replatform announcement. Both are sourcing layers on top of an ATS — SeekOut names its integration partners individually, hireEZ states 40+ native ATS integrations “so nothing gets ripped out.” Both run outreach campaigns with sequences and AI-written personalization. Both offer diversity sourcing and analytics. Both state SOC 2 Type 2 compliance.
And both share the same gaps. Neither offers or mentions EU data residency. Neither publishes how often profiles in its database are refreshed. Neither publishes a claimed accuracy rate for contact data. Neither publishes anything about interface languages or localization. Neither publishes full price lists openly.
Their review complaints are also nearly identical: stale profiles, inaccurate or bouncing emails, expensive, a learning curve.
Side by side
Everything in this table comes from the vendors' own public pages, accessed 1–2 September 2026, except where a source is named.
| SeekOut | hireEZ | |
|---|---|---|
| Claimed database | “1B+ profiles” across external sources and your ATS | “1B+ candidate profiles across 45+ channels” |
| Named data sources | LinkedIn, GitHub, Stack Overflow, patents, publications, ATS | “Open Web, Deep Search and Partner Networks” — not itemised |
| Search | Semantic plus boolean; named AI agents; SeekOut MCP — recruit from inside Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini | EZ Agent platform: sourcing, applicant review, conversational AI, scheduling — rebuilt agent-native in August 2026 |
| AI governance | Dedicated Responsible AI page: seven published principles, external validation by Credo.AI, and a commitment that AI systems “will never make employment decisions on their own” | No equivalent public page found |
| Contact credits | Fully documented: per-lookup credits, refunded when no contact is found, no rollover | No public documentation of contact credits found |
| Outreach channels | Email sequences. SMS and InMail not documented | “Multi-channel campaigns spanning email, text messaging, and InMail” |
| ATS integrations | Partners named individually: Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, Bullhorn, iCIMS, Ashby among them | “40+ native ATS integrations” |
| Diversity tooling | Per-filter geographic coverage published; classifier precision and recall stated above 90%; third-party audits with Credo.AI | Diversity analytics; no coverage or accuracy figures published |
| GDPR | States compliance. No independent validation found | TrustArc GDPR validation (audit by TRUSTe); a named Data Protection Officer; DPAs with customers and data suppliers |
| EU/UK candidate handling | Not found | Documented: PII on EU/UK profiles is masked, and revealing contact details triggers a privacy notice to the candidate |
| Where data is hosted | “SOC 2 certified data centers in the United States” | Not published |
| Certifications | SOC 2 Type 2 (stated as of June 8, 2023); “compliant with” ISO/IEC 42001:2023 and 23894:2023 — AI management and AI risk | States completion of a SOC 2 Type 2 audit; ISO/IEC 27001 and 27701 |
| Ratings (verified 2 Sep 2026) | Capterra 4.7 (189), customer service 4.8 | TrustRadius 7.9 / 10 (61) |
| Published price | $149 per seat / month, paid annually ($1,788 / yr, Recruit Core) | $494 / mo for the Solo plan; other tiers not published |
| Typical real contract | $15,000–$35,000 a year for small teams (Vendr, 65 purchases) | Median $13,000 a year (Vendr) |
Where SeekOut is stronger
AI governance, by a wide margin. SeekOut maintains a dedicated Responsible AI page with seven published principles — including that its AI systems “will never make employment decisions on their own” and that humans “remain at the center of every hiring decision” — and it engages Credo.AI for independent third-party audits. hireEZ publishes no equivalent page that we could find. If a hiring manager challenges a shortlist, or if your legal team asks how the ranking is governed, one of these vendors has an answer page and the other does not.
Diversity tooling depth. SeekOut publishes the geographic coverage of each diversity filter — which matters more than most buyers realise, because several filters cover the United States only — and states classifier precision and recall above 90%. hireEZ publishes neither the coverage nor the accuracy.
Contact credit transparency. SeekOut documents exactly how credits work, including that credits are refunded when no contact information is found, and that monthly credits do not roll over. Anyone who has argued with a vendor about a wasted lookup will recognise the value of that being written down.
Technical and academic depth. GitHub, patents and publications are named data sources. For deep engineering or research hiring, that is a real advantage.
Where hireEZ is stronger
Outreach channels. hireEZ explicitly supports “multi-channel campaigns spanning email, text messaging, and InMail.” SeekOut documents email sequences and does not document SMS or InMail. To be precise about what that means: we could not find SeekOut documentation for those channels, which is not the same as confirming they are absent — but if multi-channel outreach is central to your process, this is the first thing to verify in a demo.
GDPR posture, and this is the clearest gap on the page. hireEZ has independent validation of its GDPR practices (an audit by TRUSTe, a subsidiary of TrustArc), names a Data Protection Officer, signs Data Processing Agreements with data suppliers as well as customers, and documents a concrete mechanism: PII on EU and UK profiles is masked, and any action that reveals contact details triggers a privacy notice to the candidate. SeekOut states GDPR compliance without independent validation, and its security page places its data centres in the United States. For a European buyer, that asymmetry is the substantive difference between these two products.
Conventional security certifications. ISO 27001 and 27701 against SeekOut's ISO 42001 and 23894. These are different standards, not better ones — hireEZ certifies information security and privacy management, SeekOut addresses AI management and AI risk. Which matters depends on which questionnaire your procurement team sends.
Recent product investment. hireEZ announced a full rebuild on an agent-native architecture on 18 August 2026, and states that existing customers keep their data, their integrations and their contracts through the migration.
Who should choose SeekOut
Choose SeekOut if your hiring is concentrated in the United States and Canada, and if technical or research roles make up a meaningful share of it. GitHub, patents and publications as first-class data sources are genuinely useful for engineering and scientific hiring, and the diversity tooling is the most documented on the market.
Choose it if AI governance is a requirement rather than a preference. If you work in a regulated industry, or your legal team has started asking how AI ranks candidates, SeekOut is the only one of the two with a published principles page and third-party audits.
Choose it if you want to know exactly what you are charged for. The contact credit documentation, including refunds for unfound contacts, removes a class of argument that comes up constantly in this category.
Two things to weigh against that. SeekOut cut about 7% of staff in October 2023 and roughly 30% in May 2024, and its co-founder Anoop Gupta handed the CEO role to Sean Thompson in 2026 — at which point the company had roughly 150 employees, more than 750 corporate customers and over $100 million in the bank, per GeekWire. And reviewers report weaker European coverage: one user quoted in SelectSoftwareReviews' January 2026 review said that for the European market SeekOut “doesn't provide a significantly higher number of profiles than Linkedin.”
Who should choose hireEZ
Choose hireEZ if you hire in Europe or the UK. This is the clearest recommendation on the page. Independent GDPR validation, a named DPO, DPAs extending to data suppliers, and a documented PII-masking and candidate-notice mechanism together form a compliance posture that SeekOut does not publish an equivalent to. If your DPO has to sign off on the tool, this is a materially shorter conversation.
Choose it if multi-channel outreach is how your team actually works. Email, text messaging and InMail in one campaign is a documented capability, and for passive candidates who never open work email it can be the difference between a reply and silence.
Choose it if your procurement process runs on ISO certifications — 27001 and 27701 are the ones that appear on most enterprise security questionnaires.
And weigh this against it. A TrustRadius reviewer wrote in October 2023, rating 1 out of 10: “They have more than tripled their price without letting us know. They refuse to honor the old price.” Current TrustRadius cons for hireEZ include AI matches that “can be generic and overlook specific qualifications” and candidate information that “can be outdated, requiring data refresh.” And the free sourcing toolkit is no longer where it was: as of 2 September 2026, toolkit.hireez.com redirects to the commercial EZ Agent page, with no published statement about closing it.
What neither of them will tell you
Ask both of these questions in any demo, of either vendor.
How often is the database refreshed? Neither publishes it, and stale profiles are the single most common complaint about both. A Capterra reviewer notes that SeekOut “usually…reports candidates at their old jobs and is not always the most up to date”; TrustRadius cons for hireEZ say candidate information “can be outdated.”
What is your actual contact accuracy? Neither publishes a number. A TrustRadius reviewer's estimate for SeekOut: phone numbers “50% or better correct.” Ask for a sample run on twenty of your own roles and count the bounces yourself.
And expect the quote not to match the page. SeekOut lists $1,788 a year per seat; Vendr's data from 65 purchases puts real small-team contracts at $15,000–$35,000. hireEZ publishes only a $494 monthly Solo plan against a median contract of $13,000 a year, and states that enterprise pricing is configured to the stack it replaces rather than a flat per-seat rate.
FAQ
Is SeekOut or hireEZ better for European hiring?
hireEZ, on published compliance posture: independent TrustArc GDPR validation, a named Data Protection Officer, and a documented mechanism for masking EU and UK candidate PII. SeekOut states GDPR compliance but publishes no independent validation and places its data centres in the United States. Neither offers EU data residency.
Which one has more ATS integrations?
hireEZ states 40+ native ATS integrations; SeekOut names its partners individually on its Partners page, including Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, Bullhorn, iCIMS and Ashby. A named list you can verify is worth as much as a larger number.
Does SeekOut support SMS or LinkedIn InMail outreach?
SeekOut does not document either channel in its public materials. hireEZ explicitly states email, text messaging and InMail. Confirm directly with SeekOut before ruling it out.
Which is cheaper, SeekOut or hireEZ?
Published prices favour SeekOut at entry ($149 per seat per month paid annually against hireEZ's $494 solo plan), but median contract data favours hireEZ: roughly $13,000 a year against $15,000–$35,000 for small-team SeekOut purchases. Both quote rather than publish, so treat these as starting points.
Are SeekOut and hireEZ interchangeable?
Largely, on core sourcing. They diverge on explainability, outreach channels and compliance posture. Pick based on which of those three your organisation will be asked about.
One more option
If neither fits, we build Leadl.recruit — every shortlisted candidate carries a written verdict, and pricing is published, flat and monthly from €49.
Try Leadl.recruit free →Leadl.recruit searches many sources in parallel and returns a shortlist where every candidate carries a written verdict — what matches, what does not, the risks found, and the questions to ask. Matching is not built around English-language postings. It is a smaller tool than either of the two above, with no diversity classifiers and no voice screening. See pricing.
